Last week – Nissan 350z

My last week was probably one of the longest weeks in the last few months… Because my friend bought a new car and… There’s a lot of shit to do when you’re buying a car. Like: first you have to register it (by the way – his car is from USA). So a lot of problems while registering a car from USA. At the beginning you have to pass through the “European Standard Control”, than you have to pass through the “Servicing Control”. And that’s not all! When you do this, you have to insurance and a good quality protection signal. Anyway, it’s not sound very hard if your car is from the Europe, because it takes approximately two days and you’re done. But now, when the care is from the USA and not one of the cheapest cars you have a lot of problems. So let’s start from the beginning:

FIRST ATTEMPT:

Monday in the morning I and my friend gone to the “JUTA” (where you have to pass the “European Standard Control”) and fried to pass it. Guess what? We have failed. Reason? Because they said that front laps are not shining correctly (they have to shine a bit to the right). And another thing – the car didn’t had a back red fog lamp (USA standards don’t use it). So we drove to the “NISSAN” agent in Lithuania to fix the problem. They were looking at the car for an hour and then… They said they have fixed the problem about the front lamps. Good news we thought and gone to the “Auto Moderna” place (they do the car tuning there). So we’ve asked for the back fog lamp to be constructed. They said that they don’t have a fog lamp and we have to buy it somewhere else. Then they told as where to buy it. While we were looking for the lamp Auris (the one who owns the car) have christened his car :D to the metal cushion on the ground. Now his car has a nice hole on the back bumper. Anyway, we have found the lamp and next day we’ve gone to “Auto Moderna” again. Then they have offered another way to solve the problem. The solution was to put twelve red diodes in one of the back lamps (it should look cool :D). So they’ve done that, and we gone to “JUTA” again. Guess what? We have failed again, because the front laps were still bad and the fog lamp was not glowing enough. The day is over, so we had to go back home…

NEXT ATTEMPT:

Next day (it was Friday I guess). We have gone to “AutoModerna” again and asked them to attach the big red lamp on the back bumper to make “Juta” satisfied with a red light, but we still were confused about the front lamps. In “AutoModerna” they told as that they’re going to attach the red lamp and call us. After a few hours they’ve called as and told that they did something with the front lamps. That was great news! Because we thought that the only solution left is to change the front lamps, but it costs a lot. So… We gone to “Moderna” once again and took the car to “Juta”. The working hours were over, but we just wanted to make sure everything is all right now. The guy who already sow the car three times looked at the back lamp – passed, then he looked at the front lamps and… he was confused… Because the lamps were glowing not very good, but not bad either :D. So he called director to take a look. Director was confused as well :D. At the end they judged to let as pass the “European Standard Test”, but two conditions: First we had to take off the reflector from the front lamp, second –we can’t tell anyone about that :D. Next day we came to “Juta” again and showed that there are no reflectors on the front lamps and he gave as the “European Standard Certificate”. All this mess was for one magic word in the document “This car CAN be used on Lithuanian roads”. Finally it’s all over – we’ve thought. But… There’s still few more steps to Finnish the car installation in to your life :D. Your have to get the insurance and good safety signal. It is already Tuesday, and we have just got the car safety signal yesterday. So still one more thing left – insurance.

MORAL:

If you’re buying a car from the USA (especially new one) make sure it is “European Standard Made”, or bargain the price at least 10 percent of the current price. Or be prepared for the long long headache like we had! :D.
